Hello, I'm Allison! My teaching journey in Korea began in 2019 when I accepted a Fulbright English Teaching grant, marking the beginning of an exciting mission of education and mutual cultural exchange. Initially planning to stay for just one year, I quickly fell in love with Korea and have been here ever since. For the past four years, Sejong City has been my "second hometown," where I've had the joy of being a public elementary school teacher.

During an enriching two-year homestay experience, I immersed myself in Korean culture and language, deepening my appreciation for the value placed on education and the importance of providing quality English education from an early age. With an educational background in social sciences, I eagerly anticipate applying my knowledge and skills in our English classes, empowering students to actively participate in our increasingly globalized society. My goal is to inspire students to become not only global citizens but also critical thinkers with a curiosity for the future.

Being a lifelong learner myself, I am constantly striving to improve my Korean language skills and explore different parts of the country, always eager to try new foods along the way. My teaching philosophy revolves around creating a friendly and inclusive learning environment where students feel empowered to express themselves. Drawing from my own experiences as a former shy child, I understand the challenges students face, particularly when it comes to participation in a foreign language. I hope to encourage all my students to step outside their comfort zones and share their valuable perspectives with others.

2년간의 홈스테이를 통해 한국 문화와 언어에 흠뻑 빠져들면서 교육의 가치와 어릴 때부터 양질의 영어 교육을 제공하는 것의 중요성에 대해 더욱 깊이 인식하게 되었습니다. 사회과학을 전공한 저는 제가 가진 지식과 기술을 영어 수업에 적용하여 학생들이 점점 더 글로벌화되는 사회에 적극적으로 참여할 수 있도록 돕고 싶습니다. 제 목표는 학생들이 글로벌 시민일 뿐만 아니라 미래에 대한 호기심을 가진 비판적 사고자가 되도록 영감을 주는 것입니다.

평생 학습자인 저는 한국어 실력을 향상시키고 한국의 여러 지역을 탐험하기 위해 끊임없이 노력하고 있으며, 그 과정에서 항상 새로운 음식을 시도하고 싶어 합니다. 저의 교육 철학은 학생들이 자신을 표현할 수 있는 권한을 부여받는 친근하고 포용적인 학습 환경을 조성하는 데 중점을 둡니다. 수줍음이 많았던 어린 시절의 경험을 바탕으로 학생들이 특히 외국어에 참여할 때 직면하는 어려움을 잘 알고 있습니다. 저는 모든 학생들이 자신의 안전지대를 벗어나 자신의 소중한 관점을 다른 사람들과 공유할 수 있도록 격려하고 싶습니다.
